The Water Horse (2007) is a classic "boy and his dog" tale, except for the fact that it's a boy and a giant aquatic monster. Angus MacMorrow is a young, lonely, father-less boy who stumbles upon a strange egg on the bank of Loch Ness. The young boy cares for the egg until it hatches into a dinosaur-snail type creature, that's when things get complicated. It begins to grow and the only place big enough for this creature is the loch. Thus, the Loch Ness Monster is born.
I thought this movie was a wonderful story that kept me interested. It was a different Loch Ness Monster story that seemed more real than others. The egg that Angus found seemed to be a dinosaur egg, which is what most believe Nessie to be, a plesiosaurus, or the large, aquatic dinosaur. That part really engaged me and it seemed more probable than other myths. So, this movie had both logical and mythical twists to it, making it believable and enjoyable.
